A 21-year-old Hutchinson man who was ordered to prison for 30-months for violating his community corrections was back in court Friday where he entered a no contest plea on a charge of aggravated escape from custody.

Jordon Thomas had been ordered a mental evaluation back on September 16, of last year and he then took off from Judge Tim Chambers courtroom, but was quickly captured in a shopping center across the street from the courthouse. The state then filed the escape from custody charge.

Thomas at one time faced charges of criminal threat, stalking, and harassment by phone, but entered a plea to the felony of making a criminal threat and the state dropped the other charges.

He was convicted of harassing a Hutchinson woman on two separate occasions on September 1, and again on November 30, of 2010. The criminal threat case was ordered consecutive to the 2008 marijuana case for a total of 30-months.

In that case, Thomas admitted he was selling marijuana, as well as got into an altercation with a man at a south side Hutchinson home. That was back on December 9, 2008.

You may also remember Thomas as the man who nearly lost his life in a shooting incident back on September 15, 2009. He was wounded in the face, when he and another man arrived at an east side apartment allegedly to rob another man for his drugs. Thomas was shot in the face with a shotgun, and lost his left eye in that exchange.

21-year-old Leonardo Joseph Velázquez-Vieyra was granted an evidentiary hearing for violating his corrections involving the sale of drugs and the shooting of Thomas. He was granted 18-months community corrections after he entered a plea to a lesser case of aggravated battery. But, the state alleges he violated his corrections, because of being arrested and charged in four news cases involving the sale of marijuana.

Thomas will be sentenced on the escape charge by Judge Trish Rose on June 1.
