Hutch man arrested after altercation in Nickerson

Montalvo

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A 30-year-old Hutchinson man who faces a hearing to possibly revoke his community corrections was arrested over the weekend after an altercation in Nickerson.

According to the Reno County Sheriff’s Office, Benito Montalbo got into a confrontation Saturday with two individuals after one of them allegedly told him to slow down as he was driving. He allegedly, at some point during the altercation, pulled a knife and threatened others with that knife. He is also alleged to have threatened to come back later with a gun.

Potential charges include two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of criminal threat and one count of misdemeanor battery.

Also arrested was 26-year-old Andria Flores for disorderly conduct and possession of K-2 or synthetic marijuana. She is free on bond.

Bond for Montalbo is $15,500 and, during a court appearance Monday, his request for a reduction was denied.

Montalbo is on corrections for drug-related charges as well as driving while suspended. The hearing is scheduled Friday in front of Judge Trish Rose.
