A 22-year-old Hutchinson man was arrested in March for three counts of failing to register as a sex offender here in Hutchinson was ordered to prison Friday by District Judge Joe McCarville.
Grant Alan Wilson was convicted in 2007 of aggravated indecent solicitation of a child, this involving a child under the age of 14, and because of that conviction he is required to register as a sex offender.
According to arrest information, an anonymous tip was forwarded from the KBI about Wilson using a Facebook page using names we can’t mention. He apparently did register back on February 3rd, but never mentioned he had a face book page.
A search warrant was issued to Facebook and they allegedly provided information on the web page on February 23rd. According to those records, there were numerous mentions that the person who had that page was named Grant and even gave out his cell phone number that were his friends on the website. He also mentions his motorcycle which he also didn’t mention when registering as a sex offender.
He was interviewed by a Sheriff Deputy who handles these cases and denied any connection to Facebook and e-mail, but allegedly did admit he owned a motorcycle. He allegedly gave consent to search his cell phone and it allegedly showed in the Internet history a list of times he had accessed Facebook including when deactivated he account.
Again, Wilson ordered to prison Friday afternoon.
