A 40-year-old Hutchinson man arrested last Friday on charges of felony flee and elude, three counts of stalking and three counts of harassment by phone made a first appearance Tuesday morning via-video from the Reno County Jail.

Michael Moore of 403 East Bigger was arrested just after 9 p-m Friday on the charges after apparently leading police on a chase. He denied that during court Tuesday, saying he was simply trying to get to the police station to find out what was going on. He was finally taken into custody in the unit block of West 2nd.

This case is apparently over a domestic situation with his estranged wife where he was allegedly repeatedly calling her to the point that she called police. At one point it is alleged that he called and an officer was on the phone and Moore then used vulgar language and hung up. According to statements in court, Moore didn’t realize it was an officer on the phone.

His family was in court and his mother told Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen that her son is no danger to his estrange wife or anyone else, and wanted the 100-hundred thousand dollar bond lowered.

Assistant District Attorney Andrew Davidson stated that he believes Moore is a danger because he was reported to have had a gun with one bullet in the chamber and threatened to put a bullet in his head.

Other extended family members attempted to speak but were cut off afterDavidson told the judge he believed it to be inappropriate, for which the  judge agreed.  Judge McEwen also  denied a bond reduction.

The case will be scheduled for a future status hearing to allow the state to file formal charges.
