A 21-year-old Hutchinson man arrested last month, charged with aggravated assault, criminal possession of a firearm, criminal damage to property and unlawful discharge of a firearm was in court for a hearing on that case, plus a motion to revoke his probation in a previous case.

But, then came word that Jamie England faces a charge of aggravated battery for a case that goes back on July 22. In that case, he allegedly battered another man during an altercation.

In the most serious case, England allegedly pointed a gun at an 18-year-old female, Katie Salmans of 543 East C, in the 1000 block of South Main.

Police says Salmans went to the entrance of Carey Park to confront England over property he may have that belonged to her father, namely a gun, and he then allegedly pulled it out and pointed it at her, putting her in fear for her own safety. She then left, and others present told England that wasn’t a smart thing to do. He then reportedly went into the park where he then fire a round from the gun into the air. He then apparently took the gun back to Salmans father.

Police caught up with the vehicle England was in in the 600 block of East 11th, where he was then placed under arrest and taken to jail.

His attorney Don Snapp told the judge that he had only prepared to address the issues with the first case, and wasn’t aware of the new allegations, in fact a Sheriff Detective was in court to serve the warrant of England.

Judge Joe McCarville in allowing more time for Snapp to sort though all of these cases was granted a continuance till November 30.
