HUTCHINSON, Kan. — After the state’s side of the preliminary hearing for a 19-year-old man, it announced it would add an additional count of unlawful sexual relations against Guillermo J. Guzman.

He was bound over for trial by Judge Joe McCarville on both counts involving the alleged sexual encounters with a 14-year-old girl. The alleged crimes occurred in the late night hours of July 18 or early morning hours of July 19, 2015, at his home here in Hutchinson.

Because the child was 14 and the defendant 18 at the time, it’s unlawful under state law for them to have sexual relations, even though it may have been consensual.

With him being bound over, he’ll be arraigned on the charges on Aug. 1.
