A 21-year-old Hutchinson man on Community Corrections and jailed on additional charges finds himself in some serious trouble again according to a complaint filed by the state.
Dean A. Hoffman is jailed on a 50-thousand dollar bond, charged with aggravated sexual battery, aggravated battery, criminal possession of a firearm, criminal threat and misdemeanor battery. The final count allegedly made against a 6-year-old child.
The alleged crimes are said to have occurred back on March 18, when he allegedly touched the victim in a sexual way without her permission and also made physical contact with her allegedly causing bodily harm.
Hoffman also was in possession of firearm with prior convictions for criminal threat, aggravated assault, aggravated intimidation of witness, contributing to child’s misconduct, and obstruction of official duty. Those crimes going back to May of 2010.
All of these charges appear to be based on a domestic situation.
In court, he wanted the bond reduced stating he didn’t think the state had all that much evidence, but the state argued that he again had a handgun in his possession. Hoffman tried to argue that he has already been charged with the, but in the end, the judge denied the bond reduction.
You may recall us doing a story back in March for him being an absconder from Community Corrections, and for being in possession of stolen property, as well as being in possession of a weapon.
Law enforcement got word that he was at the Pic-Quik at 4th & Plum, and that he may be armed. They came in with force, and had everyone in the vehicle he was in out of the car, and then discovered he had a stolen, “pink,” handgun in the waistband of the pants he was wearing. He was then taken into custody without incident. His bond in that case is set at 75-thousand dollars.
The previous convictions the result of Hoffman hiding a teenage runaway from Great Bend in the basement of his home at 209 West B, this back on May 3, of 2010. Then on May 7, he had a knife and threatened a female at the home on West B, believing the victim may have been the snitch in the earlier incident.
With the charges filed in the new case, it will now be placed on a waiver-status docket on May 15.
