A 21-year-old Hutchinson man convicted of aggravated endangerment of a child in one case and attempted criminal threat in the another was sentenced Friday to 18-months in prison, then granted 12-months community corrections.
It was back on June 13, when William Hickey was alleged to have knowingly tortured or cruelly beat a 1-year-old child. The other theory alleged that he inflicted cruel and inhumane corporal punishment on the 1-year-old. This after the child sustained injuries to her face and also her bottom.
The state contends that this was no accident, but Hickey contends that he opened a door that tends to stick and the door hit the child. Members of Hickey’s family indicate there were no marks on the child when they saw her earlier that day.
In the other case he had been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, for threatening Darrell Hickey with a knife. He was also charged with criminal threat for the same incident. That occurring back on May 17, 2012.
But, he entered a plea agreement with the state amending the compliant. That made the charges he entered a plea to presumptive probation.
Hickey won’t get out of jail right just yet. Apparently, he has a hold out of Barber County for some criminal charges there.
