HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A 32-year-old ex-con arrested at Walmart last year for allegedly being in possession of meth, possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia, all with intent to distribute entered pleas in that case as well as a second case. .

Jerry L. Mahan II was sitting on a bench at Walmart and left a black case on the bench as he left. Someone found it and turned it in to customer service. They noticed that the contents didn’t look legal, so when Mahan came back to claim the case, police were called in. The case allegedly contained the meth and cocaine, both at least 3.5 grams, but less than 100 grams. That was on June 21, 2015.

Mahan managed to post bond in this case, but then absconded but was eventually arrested on warrant. That was on Jan. 3, and he was allegedly in possession of a seller’s amount of methamphetamine, between 3.5 and 100 grams, according to the criminal complaint at that time.

With him entering pleas in both cases, sentencing will be on Sept. 16, in front of Judge Trish Rose.
