The 25-year-old Hutchinson man arrested back in early December after he reported to police that he sexually abused a 3-month-old child, and then charged by the state with aggravated criminal sodomy is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Wednesday.
According to Police Lt. Marty Robertson, Michael Sherman was alone with the child and was watching pornography on his cell phone. He apparently became aroused and then sodomized the child.
He was arrested in the early morning hours of December 5 on the charge.
The case falls under Jessica’s Law provisions, meaning he could be looking at a life sentence with no chance of parole for 25-years, if convicted.
The hearing is scheduled to be in front of Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen.
