A 28-year-old Hutchinson man arrested back on January 14 after a traffic stop and found to be in possession of a number of drugs was in court Wednesday for the formal reading of charges.

Maurice Davis of 2106 North Jackson is now charged with possession of cocaine, possession of hydrocodone and possession of marijuana, all with intent to sell, two counts of no tax stamp, possession of drug proceeds, and DUI.

He was stopped by Hutchinson Police in the 1100 block of North K-61, after an officer observed him driving northbound in the southbound lanes. After the officer made the traffic stop, he could smell alcohol coming from the vehicle. Davis then allegedly failed alcohol test and a field sobriety test allegedly showed he had an alcohol content of “0.159.” He was then arrested for DUI.

During a subsequent search after his arrest, the officer says he located a small plastic baggy which he says contained marijuana, as well as another bag that contained several pieces of white hard substance that tested positive for crack cocaine, and a third bag that contained pills later identified as hydrocodone.

All of the items were found behind the drivers seat of his GMC pickup on the floor. He was then also arrested on the drug charges.

His bond was set at 16-thousand, 500-dollars, and he was read the formal complaint by Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen Wednesday morning. He’ll will be back in court on February 15.
