A 34-year-old Hutchinson man has been formally charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to package, no tax stamp and criminal possession of a firearm.

Jacob Maxwell of 1217 East 9th was stopped on February 10, when Reno County Sheriff Deputy Jeremy Hedges saw him pull up at his residence and had confirmed that his drivers license was revoked and had a possible active warrant through Harvey County. He was arrested as he exited his vehicle.

The deputy then searched his person and allegedly found a Ziplock baggie that contained around 7-grams of ice meth, as well as other bags, and a large amount of cash. A search of the vehicle showed a 9-mm handgun next to the driver’s seat, and digital scale in the center console.

His bond set at 15-thousand, 750-dollars and is expected back in court on April 4 for a status hearing.

Jacobs had served time in prison for drug charges in both Harvey and Sedgwick Counties, and a driving while suspended conviction out of Sedgwick County, from 2005 and 2008 cases.
