Hutch man formally charged with marijuana distribution

A 39-year-old Hutchinson man has been formally charged in an alleged marijuana distribution case.

Joseph Kelly of 629 West 17th was in court Tuesday where the complaint filed by the state was read to him, charging him with possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to package for distribution and no tax stamp.

The Reno County Drug Enforcement Unit did a search of his home back on February 7, and he allegedly admitted there was marijuana in his home, both in the kitchen and the bedroom. Officers say they found numerous individual bags of marijuana.

Kelly is free on a 7-thousand dollar bond and his case will be placed on the waiver-status docket for March 13.
