A 23-year-old Hutchinson man who has been on community corrections for convictions of aggravated battery, theft, sale of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia for growing of pot and no tax stamp was in court Friday morning for the reading of charges in four new cases.

In three of the cases, Leonardo J. Velazquez-Vieyra is charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell, and no tax stamp. The first complaint is alleged to have occurred on June 21, the second on August 29, and the third on September 7. The final case involves a charge of being in possession of drug proceeds.

He was in court for the reading of the charges for all four cases and also a motion to revoke his community corrections for the 2006 and 2009 cases. He’s been on corrections since he was sentenced back in July by Judge Tim Chambers.

He asked for a reduction of his bond which for everything totals 175-thousand dollars. He told Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen that he wanted his bond reduced because he wanted to continue with his job as well as take care of his kids. The state opposed the reduction saying 25-thousand in each case and the 75-thousand dollars for the motion to revoke is appropriate saying that he had large amounts of marijuana in each case. In fact says Assistant District Attorney, Andrew Davidson, he had 3-pounds in the previous case, and over a pound in each of the other cases. Judge McEwen after hearing that declined to reduce the bonds and set a status hearing in all the new cases for January 4.

The motion to revoke case will be brought before Judge Tim Chambers on January 13.
