A 31-year-old Hutchinson man, Willie J. Scuderi is charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm after a felony conviction. He was indicted by a Federal Grand Jury in Wichita.

The gun charges are in association with a drug case that goes back to January 3 of last year. In that case, he was stopped on a routine traffic matter in the 100 block of North Chemical. Officers then says they discovered the drugs. He was charged with possession of methamphetamine and marijuana, both with intent to sell. He also allegedly had two handguns in the car with prior felony conviction. But, the feds didn’t indict him on the drug charges, only the guns.

One of the guns was a Davis Industries Model P-380, and the other was a Kel-Tec P3AT 380. He was also bound over for trial on charges of no drug tax stamp and driving while suspended. That case is still pending according to Deputy District Attorney Tom Stanton.

Scuderi has already been convicted of flee and elude in another case when he was arrested in the 700 block of East 5th. He allegedly ran from officers after they tried to serve two warrants for his arrest here in Reno County as well as one in Sedgwick County. That was on June 16 of last year. He was also convicted of failing to register as a drug offender. He is currently serving time in state prison for those convictions.

Scuderi has served time in prison for convictions for drugs, aggravated battery, endangering a child, and criminal threat, all out of Sedgwick County, and had been released from prison in May of 2009.

If convicted on the gun charges, he faces a maximum penalty of 10-years in federal prison and a fine up to 250-thousand on each count.
