A Hutchinson man who has seen his share of trouble with the law can add another case to those troubles.
Jordon Thomas is now charged with possession of cocaine, anabolic steroids and marijuana with a prior conviction. He was allegedly caught with the drugs back on February 16, and the case is just now starting to make its way through the courts.
He made an appearance on the charges this morning in front of Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen where he was assigned a public defender and then another status hearing was set for later this month.
In other cases, Thomas had been ordered a mental evaluation back in September of 2011 and he then took off from Judge Tim Chambers courtroom, but was quickly captured in a shopping center across the street from the courthouse. The state then filed a charge of aggravated escape from custody against him. He entered a plea in that case, was granted 18-months community corrections on a 19-month underlying sentence.
The state then filed a motion to revoke his corrections for that case and wanted the sentence ordered executed, while the defense asked for a sanction rather then prison. Judge Trish Rose went on the side of the defense and gave him 60-days in the Reno County Jail, but then placed him back on corrections, however he had to start all over, meaning that once released from jail, the 18-months will start all over again.
He was also convicted of harassing a Hutchinson woman on two separate occasions on September 1, and again on November 30, of 2010. The criminal threat case was ordered consecutive to the 2008 marijuana case for a total of 30-months. In that case, Thomas admitted he was selling marijuana, as well as got into an altercation with a man at a south side Hutchinson home. That was back on December 9, 2008.
You may also remember Thomas as the man who nearly lost his life in a shooting incident back on September 15, 2009. He was wounded in the face, when he and another man arrived at an east side apartment allegedly to rob another man for his drugs. Thomas was shot in the face with a shotgun, and lost his left eye in that exchange.
