HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The 25-year-old man convicted of committing a robbery in the city in October of last year will serve additional time in prison.

Judge Tim Chambers denied a departure and ordered the sentence of four years and nine months be served by Tyler Lee Ford for the Kwik Shop robbery at 17th & Monroe.

The robbery occurred back on Oct. 4 when Ford pointed a semi-automatic handgun at the clerk’s head and demanded cash.

Ford was arrested after officers got a tip on the suspect’s whereabouts. Officers searched the home at 825 Lee and found evidence of the robbery.

During a search of the residence, officers reportedly found clothing and a jacket Ford was wearing during the robbery. The jacket had cash in one of the pockets. Ford was eventually taken into custody.

Ford was already on parole for several burglary and theft convictions when this robbery occurred.
