ANDALE, Kan. — Hutchinson Monarchs got a win on the road Saturday night with a win over the Andale Warhawks, 8-4.
Hutchinson Monarchs got things moving in the first inning. Garrett Stephens doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.
In the bottom of the first inning, Andale Warhawks tied things up at two when Ethan Bergkampsingled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

After Hutchinson Monarchs scored two runs in the top of the ninth, Andale Warhawks answered with two of their own. Hutchinson Monarchs scored when Stephens singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run and Jackson Loftin doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. Andale Warhawks then answered when Steve Ramos singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run and Thomas Beiswanger drew a walk, scoring one run.
Hutchinson Monarchs pulled away for good with four runs in the fifth inning. In the fifth Colton Cowser doubled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs and Taylor Barber homered on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs.
Joshua Fortenberry toed the rubber for Hutchinson Monarchs. He lasted six innings, allowing four hits and two runs while striking out six and walking one.
Santiago Hungria was on the pitcher’s mound for Andale Warhawks. He lasted six and a third innings, allowing eight hits and six runs while walking one. Ryan Dearing threw two and two-thirds innings in relief.
Hutchinson Monarchs launched one home run on the day. Barber had a long ball in the fifth inning.
Hutchinson Monarchs collected 12 hits on the day. Loftin, Conor Craig, Kevin Cronin, Stephens, and Cowser each collected multiple hits for Hutchinson Monarchs. Cowser, Stephens, Cronin, Craig, and Loftin all had two hits to lead Hutchinson Monarchs. Bergkamp went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Andale Warhawks in hits.
Hutchinson returns to Andale again tonight to play the Warhawks. First pitch is set for 6:00 pm.
