HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson Regional Medical Center (HRMC) has scheduled an Insurance Marketplace and Enrollment event for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday in the admissions area near the hospital entrance for individuals and families interested in applying for health insurance coverage under the Affordable Care Act.
Jan Potter, Patient Navigator at HRMC, will distribute information, respond to questions on the enrollment process, and be available to assist interested parties to complete an online application.
Potter said open enrollment started on Nov. 1 and runs through Dec. 15 and is much shorter than in previous years.
“Many people are confused about the various health insurance plans and may have questions on eligibility for financial assistance; so it is our goal to explain the various options available to each person,” Potter said. “We are hoping Kansans will choose to enroll early to avoid the last minute rush.”
Potter said many Kansans may be eligible for Advanced Premium Tax Credits through the Marketplace. These credits help lower monthly insurance premiums and others may qualify for cost-sharing reductions, which automatically lower the out-of-pocket costs associated with the Marketplace plans.
Individuals who plan to enroll for health insurance will need to provide the following information about their family and household:
Names, birth dates and Social Security numbers for everyone in the household — Projected household income for 2018
Tax information, such as filing status and number of dependents
Immigration documentation and supporting identification numbers
An email address to create an online Marketplace account. Assistance can be provided for those who need to create one.
A second Patient Navigator will be available at the Dec. 2 meeting to assist Potter with enrolling applicants.
