As expected, a 19-year-old Hutchinson man entered a plea in three cases today. Actually the state dropped two cases, then added those counts to the other.

Tylor Schmidt entered pleas to aggravated assault, defacing identification marks on a firearm, possession of marijuana, criminal use of a financial card and theft.

In one case, Schmidt was allegedly seen using a debit card that allegedly belonged to a family member at a number of stores including Wal-Mart, Dillon’s and Hippen Sports over a three day period starting on July 10, and ending on July 12. The total comes over 41-hundred dollars. Apparently, he was recorded on video committing those crimes.

In another case, he was arrested after an incident at a local home back on January 18. This case started around 4:30 p-m, when officers were dispatched to 522 East 6th, in reference to a possible hostage situation. Officers quickly diffused the situation and found that no one was being held hostage. The investigation later revealed that Schmidt who had an apartment at that location threatened an acquaintance with a handgun. The handgun was recovered and police discovered that the serial number was defaced.

And, he has a third case of possession of marijuana after being arrested on July 24.

Because he entered pleas to the charges Friday, sentencing will be September 28.
