HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A 31-year-old woman faces charges for stealing some items from an APAC-Shears facility on West 1st in Hutchinson and trying to sell them.
An employee of the company reported the theft of a white 1997 Ford single-axle dump truck, a 22-foot trailer, and a Case skid-steer from the lot.
Ashley Miles and Jason Crabbs, 37, are suspected of taking the items with a total value of $46,000. They apparently tried to sell them to a resident over in Sedgwick County, but the person they tried to sell them to became suspicious and called law enforcement.
She apparently crashed the truck through a fence when they were stealing it, causing front-end damage as a result. Miles was arrested in Sedgwick County, while Crabbs ran from the scene and hasn’t been arrested yet.
Miles was arrested for felony theft and criminal damage. She is jailed on a bond of $19,500. She made a first appearance in court Monday where the bond was left the same. She should be back in court next week.
