HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Two Hutchinson Community College students were recognized as the 2018 Young Kansan Award winners at a reception in the Parker Student Union on Thursday.

Yadira Nunez of Salina and Tyler Pauly from Viola were recognized from a field of students nominated for the honor. The Young Kansan award recognizes the outstanding male and female graduate each year at Hutchinson Community College and is chosen by a vote of the faculty and administration at the college.

Nunez is graduating with an Associate of Arts Degree. She is from Salina and graduated from Ell-Saline High School. She was listed on the “2018 Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges” and is active in the Student Government Association. Nunez is a Student Ambassador for the Admissions Department. She plans to attend the Barton School of Business at Wichita State University.

Pauly is graduating with an Associate of Arts Degree. He is from Viola and graduated from Andale High School. Tyler is a Presidential Leadership Gold Scholar and has been involved with Student Government Association, Honors Student Council, the Biology Club, Collegiate 4-H, Collegiate Farm Bureau, Block and Bridle and Phi Theta Kappa. Tyler plans to transfer to Kansas State University.

Nunez and Pauly will also be recognized during the HutchCC Commencement Ceremonies on Friday.
