The Youth Philanthropy Council, a program of the Hutchinson Community Foundation announced Wednesday the 2012-2013 Richard W. Dillon Memorial Fund for Youth Philanthropy grant competition. This Fund supports programs and services that benefit Reno County youth, ages zero to 18.

Organizations and groups that serve youth or are led by youth are encouraged to apply. Programs involving youth in the development and implementation of the project will be given priority consideration. This year the Council has additional dollars to award to also support youth participating in fine arts projects, both visual and performing.

The Richard W. Dillon Memorial Fund for Youth Philanthropy was established with the Community Foundation by his family and friends in memory of his many contributions to the community. Since 2004, more than $19,000 has been awarded from this fund.

The Youth Philanthropy Council is comprised of high school students from across the county. Council members discuss issues affecting local youth, learn about philanthropy and grant making, and will determine this year’s award winners in early 2013.

Grant applications are due in the Community Foundation office by Wednesday, January 23rd.
