HUTCHINSON, Kan. — As part of the remembrance of the terrorist attacks on 9/11, 2001, 22 Hutchinson Firefighters will be participating in memorial stair climbs throughout the state. They’ll be climbing 110 flights of stairs in full gear honoring the 343 firefighters who died on that date 15 years ago.

Officials with the Fire Department say that 16 will be at the Epic Center in Wichita Saturday where they’ll climb the stairs in that building. Six more will be going to Kansas City on Sunday where they’ll climb stairs in one of the skyscrapers there.

This is again to honor and remember those firefighters who lost their lives trying to save others during the terrorist attacks in New York City and Washington, D.C.
