HUTCHINSON, Kan. – You can join the Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland as they make new friends this school year, take action in their communities, build leadership skills – and have fun!

Local Girl Scouts will be welcoming new girls to their troops during a special sign-up event from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25 at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 140 E. 30th Ave. in Hutchinson. This is a great opportunity for girls in the community to join the fun and excitement in Girl Scouting which builds courage, confidence and character.

Girls and their families can learn more about the exclusive, Girl Scout events coming up this year, including crime scene investigation and first-aid training with Hutchinson Community College, pizza parties at Apron Strings, and overnight adventures at the Kansas Cosmosphere and Kansas Underground Salt Museum. The council will also set up a Girl Scout Shop at this event, with Girl Scout merchandise available.

Girls can sign up or renew their membership for just $15, and financial assistance is available to all girls who need it.
