HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson High School girls defeated Valley Center High 40-28 in Friday night’s game.

In a low-scoring game, the Salthawks finished off the first quarter ahead of Valley Center 11-2.

Hutchinson had a 14-point lead shortly before halftime.

Hutchinson’s Jayla Bynum and Gabbie Posch both scored in double digits. Bynum ended with 16, while Posch had 15 points.

The Salthawks pushed forward in the third to lead 30-19.

Posch hit three free throws in the fourth to set the final score at 40-28.

The Salthawks outrebounded Valley Center 31-21 to finish off the night.

Hutchinson travels to Maize on Tuesday, Feb. 12, at 7:30 p.m.
