After a brief hearing Monday morning, a Hutchinson man accused of stabbing another man to death back in November of last year declined a plea offer from the state.

Judge Joe McCarville had scheduled the hearing specifically so Aaron Alvarez could enter a plea, but that changed meaning that a new date for a preliminary hearing has been set. Alvarez will be in court again on August 6 for the hearing which the state says should last around 3-hours.

Aaron Alvarez is accused of intentional murder in the 2nd degree for the killing of 23-year-old Allen Frank. He allegedly stabbed Frank to death after the two got into an altercation after Alvarez may have accidentally struck Frank’s girlfriend. The two then argued and Alvarez stabbed Frank in the abdomen. He was flown to Via-Cristi St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita where he died at around 12:29 a-m, on Thanksgiving morning.

Alvarez was arrested on Thanksgiving day for intentional murder in the second degree.

Again, the preliminary hearing in the murder case now set for August 6.
