A Hutchinson man is jailed after a brief standoff with police Thursday afternoon.

Authorities took 47-year-old Michael Meeks of 1312 East 25th into custody just after 3 p-m.

According to police, several 911 calls came in about a woman being forced into the east 25th Avenue residence. When police knocked on the door, the women opened the door about two inches and said everything was O-K. The door was then slammed shut, at which time police forced their way in, and took Meeks into custody.

The victim later revealed that Meeks was standing next to her while she was at the door, with a sawed off shot gun pointed at police. The weapon was found hidden behind a couch.

Meeks is jailed on charges of kidnapping, two counts of aggravated assault against a law enforcement officer with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault and battery.

His bond has been set at 120-thousand 600-dollars.
