A 19-year-old Hutchinson man convicted in a car burglary case where he and others are suspected of breaking into vehicles belonging to law enforcement, public officials and other private citizens entered guilty pleas Wednesday in two other cases.

Sheridan Kiraly entered the pleas in two cases, both involving incidents in the Reno County Jail.

In one case, he’s accused of aggravated battery of a law enforcement officer, and criminal threat. On September 1, he was in the process of being put in a restraint chair because of acting up, when he allegedly threatened a deputy, saying he is going to stab him, when he gets out of the chair, then spit in the deputies face.

The other case has to do with an incident on October 8, of last year, when Kiraly and some other inmates caused the toilets in the main jail to overflow causing the water to seep through the floor, damaging ceiling tiles in the offices below.

Kiraly agreed to enter the pleas, and the state agreed to recommend 24-months for the battery and criminal threat charges, and another 6-months for the criminal damage. That sentence would run concurrent to other one.

Kiraly was found guilty earlier this year of fourteen counts of auto burglary and one count of conspiracy to commit auto burglary in the case involving law enforcement officers and others.

He set for sentencing in that case on May 11, and his attorney, Bonnie Corrado with the Regional Public Defenders Office asked that sentencing for the other two cases be sent to court of Judge Trish Rose, so sentencing can occur all at once.

Kiraly was arrested in the case along with 21-year-old Victor Smith and 18-year-old Madison Smalling. The burglaries occurring in a period from late June through July 3, of last year.
