HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A 31-year-old Hutchinson man jailed on charges of two alternate counts of kidnapping will face a jury trial in October.

Todd Lloyd was arraigned Monday morning where Judge Trish Rose set a trial date of October 21, after he entered “not guilty” pleas to the two alternate counts.

The case starts back on April 23, when his community corrections officer along with police came to possibly take him into custody. They were at the front door and Lloyd apparently managed to escape through another door that wasn’t covered. He apparently took his girlfriend and at various times during the altercation with police, he allegedly held a knife to her neck, side and back, and threatened to kill her. He’s also alleged to have invited police to kill him.

A Hutchinson Police officer testified at the preliminary hearing that he was ready to shoot the defendant in the head during the standoff, but couldn’t get a clean shot. At one time police ordered the victim to drop down so they could shoot Lloyd, at which time he dropped the knife. He was then tased and taken into custody.

He had been on community corrections for a conviction of felony flee and elude that goes back to August of 2011. He had been granted the corrections in February of last year.
