A 27-year-old Hutchinson man arrested Sunday morning after fleeing arrest when a Hutchinson police officer attempted to stop him on a traffic issue has been formally charged by the state.

Robert Leonard Hill of 2900 Acres Road, Apt. 118, is charged with aggravated assault, interference with law enforcement, felony flee and elude, and driving while suspended, and is alleged to be a habitual violator.

Officer Jamie Schoenhoff attempted to stop Hill who then turned into an alley, where he crashed behind a home in the 200 block of East 8th. He then allegedly ran from the vehicle, but was caught two houses down.

Police say he then picked up a shovel and threw it at the officer, but the officer was able to get out of the way. He then threw other yard ornaments, but again missed. He was taken into custody shortly thereafter.

His bond stayed the same at $11,000 and he is set to be back on court on May 16.

Hill also faces misdemeanor offenses of possession of marijuana, possession of synthetic cannabinoid, driving while a habitual violator, a second offense, and interference with law enforcement in a separate case.
