HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A local man failed to get his $10,000 bond reduced while appearing before District Judge Trish Rose Wednesday morning.

Deangelo Cantu is accused of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon where he allegedly threatened another with a gun, and a misdemeanor count of domestic battery. The alleged crimes occurred back on Sept. 18.

He asked for a reduction of the $10,000 bond, but the state objected, noting that he has failed to appear in the past and is on court services for drugs and being a criminal in possession of a weapon. Judge Rose denied the request. He was also ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim.

The assault case now moves to a waiver-status docket.
