HUTCHINSON, Kan. – One of two arrested on drug distribution charges was in court Thursday for the reading of formal charges against him.

61-year-old Clifford Paul Pearson Jr. has been charged by the state with possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to package, misdemeanor possession of marijuana and personal use drug paraphernalia.

He was arrested along with 54-year-old Sheila Davison who was wanted as an absconder from Community Corrections.

When police arrived to find Davison, she asked for her inhaler inside her purse. When the officer opened the purse, they found a bag of suspected methamphetamine. That led to a search of the residence and where they found pipes scattered around the home that smelled of marijuana. They also found a camera bag that allegedly contained more methamphetamine, weighing approximately 28 grams. They also allegedly found three handguns.

Davison in addition to the new case has a hold for absconding from Community Corrections in the earlier case. In a case from 2014, she was convicted of distribution of drugs and driving while suspended.

She is scheduled to appear in court Friday.
