While a 26-year-old Hutchinson man is listed in fair condition after he had to have his right leg amputated below the knee after he was struck by a motorcycle in Hutchinson Saturday night, a person of interest came to police on Monday.

Hutchinson Police Sgt., Brian Hirt stated they were not officially releasing the name of this individual. We were given the name early this morning but will not post it here until police give us the official go ahead.

The accident occurred around 9:10 p-m Saturday night when police were dispatched to the 1900 block of North Main for the accident involving a motorcycle verses pedestrian.

Officers found Jeffrey Nusser had been struck by a motorcycle traveling northbound on Main while Nusser attempted to cross the street.

The motorcycle left the scene and was described as a silver colored “cruiser” style motorcycle with tall “ape hanger” style handlebars, loud pipes and possibly ridden by a white male wearing a white bandanna.

Nusser was taken by air-ambulance to Via Cristi St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita for trauma to his right leg, again resulting in the amputation below the knee.

The investigation is ongoing.
