Hutchinson man remains in critical condition following accident

RENO COUNTY – A Hutchinson man remains in critical condition following a two-vehicle accident 69th & Lorraine accident 2north of Hutchinson around 12:45 Sunday afternoon.

The Sheriff’s department reports that 65-year-old Steve Tuxhorn was going west of 69th when he ran a stop sign at the intersection with Lorraine, and was hit by a northbound pickup driven by 18-year-old Dakota Roberts, also of Hutchinson.

Units from the Hutchinson Fire Department used the Jaws of Life to free Tuxhorn from his vehicle. He was transported from the scene by Reno County EMS to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center in critical condition and later flown to Via Cristi’s St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita. Roberts was transported by Reno County EMS to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

The accident is still under investigation.
