Hutchinson Monarchs’s Lee comes through in the clutch, upends the Park City Rangers, 3-2

 

Alex Lee drove in the winning run to give Hutchinson Monarchs the lead in the seventh inning, as Hutchinson Monarchs hung on to beat the Park City Rangers 3-2 on Wednesday.

Jordan Pearson walked to start the seventh. He then went from first to third on an RBI single by Seth Wheeler. Finally, Lee came to the plate with the score tied at two, and walked, scoring Pearson.

Shane Martin recorded the win for Hutchinson Monarchs. He allowed two runs over seven innings. Martin struck out two, walked one and gave up seven hits.

Ty Detmer came up with the big defensive play in the top half of the 8th with Park City trying to tag up and score the tying run.  Detmer made a sliding catch on a blop hit to shallow center by Park City’s Garland and came up throwing to nail Mancuso at the plate as Wheeler put a perfect tag on the runner.  That took the wind out of Park City’s sails as Michael Schoolcraft cruised through the ninth inning for the save.

Hutchinson Monarchs went up for good in the seventh scoring two total runs, which came home on an RBI single by Wheeler.
