A Hutchinson man accused of stabbing another man to death last Wednesday made an initial court appearance Monday morning where he was read the formal complaint against him.

Aaron Alvarez is accused of stabbing 23-year-old Allen Frank to death after the two got into an altercation after Alvarez may have accidentally struck Frank’s girlfriend. The two then argued and Alvarez stabbed Frank in the abdomen.

It was around 8:49 p-m, when officers of the Hutchinson Police Department were dispatched to 116 East Carpenter in reference to the stabbing. They found him severly wounded.

He was taken by Reno County E-M-S to Promise Regional Medical Center and later flown to Via-Cristi, St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita where he died at around 12:29 a-m Thanksgiving morning.

Alvarez was arrested early Thanksgiving for intentional murder in the second degree and bond was not changed from the initial 250-thousand dollars set, this after he made the appearance Monday in front of Judge Tim Chambers.

The victims parents were in the courtroom as the complaint was read, and the victims mother began weeping, while Alvarez sat stoned faced with his head down and his only statement was that he understood the charge.

The next possible appearance for Alvarez will be on December 14, in front of Judge Joe McCarville.
