HUTCHINSON, Kan. – What police describe as a minor altercation did lead to a 53-year-old Hutchinson man being taken to jail on a charge of interference with law enforcement.

Apparently, Randy Messner had threatened to hurt himself and was reportedly armed with a knife. When police arrived at the home in the 1500 block of East 9th, he refused to let them in. After about 20 minutes, they were able to sneak in the back and tackle him to the ground.

This occurred around 5:30 Wednesday evening.
