Hutchinson School Board Approves Fiscal Year 2013 budget

The Hutchinson School Board meeting consisted of agreeing to various contracts for the coming school year, however, one item of interest was approved for the fiscal year 2013. that is their yearly budget.

The action by the School Board came after a brief public hearing.

The budget proposes general fund legal maximum spending of about $30.6 million. For the first time in three years, the Legislature increased base state aid.

The 2012-13 budget includes the $58 per pupil increase in state aid – representing a 1.5 percent increase in the base state aid per pupil.

Overall, the estimated tax rate for 2012-13 for district taxpayers will be 56.41 mills or 0.75 mill lower than this year.

Some of the others things approved included the local inter-agency program agreement between Reno County Head Start, Reno County Education Cooperative and the Training and Evaluation Center of Hutchinson.

They also approved an agreement with Hutchinson Community College for technical education courses, a contract with the city to use the Sports Arena for Hutchinson High School graduation, and approved the annual YMCA agreement.

The School Board meets again on August 27.
