The Hutchinson School Board as expected Wednesday, approved the 2012-13 negotiated agreement with Hutchinson NEA as well as an addendum to the 2011-12 agreement.

The 2012-13 agreement includes a pay package increase totaling about 3.9 percent for licensed staff. The addendum to the 2011-12 agreement pays licensed staff – including teachers, counselors and nurses – a $1,000 stipend. The stipend resulted from the district having additional salary dollars available because of increased student enrollment for the current school year.

The Hutchinson National Education Association approved the contract in a vote on May 24.

Also on the agenda were stipends for classified staff and administrators. Classified staffers, primarily hourly employees for the district, who were on duty April 1 and were employed at the end of the school year will receive $500 while administrators will receive $1,000.

The Board also voted to increase compensation for classified staff and administrators. Those staff members will see about a 3.36 percent increase in compensation. The Board will set Superintendent Dr. Shelly Kiblinger’s compensation later this summer.

Also during Wednesday’s meeting, the Board approved republishing the current year’s budget. The public hearing on the republished budget will be at 7:05 p-m, on June 11 at the Administration Center.

The district has learned it will receive an additional 17-thousand, 962 in special education money from the state of Kansas. To access that money, however, the Board has to republish a larger budget amount than it had previously.
