The Hutchinson School Board Monday reviewed its listening session with Hutchinson High School students.

On Jan. 24, board members met with about 30 Hutch High students in what is called a “linkage.” A linkage is a formal, structured listening event. A diverse group of students sat down with individual board members to answer questions about the quality of education they receive at HHS.

As part of the Coherent Governance process, board members meet with different stakeholder groups during the year. Earlier this school year, the board met with a wide-ranging group of volunteers, community members and real estate agents for their input on the district.

Board members, then, reflect on what they learned at the linkages and can consider policy or other changes.

Also during Monday’s meeting, the board distributed evaluations for Superintendent Shelly Kiblinger. Dr. Kiblinger’s evaluations are based in large part on the student and operational results reports the Board receives at most meetings.

The Board will formally take up Dr. Kiblinger’s evaluation at the Feb. 27 meeting.
