KANSAS CITY, KAN. – A 29-year-old Illegal immigrant, Adan Cruz-Santos is charged with unlawfully re-entering the U-S after being convicted of a felony conviction for a fatal DUI conviction. He was sentenced in 2005 to five and a half years in prison after pleading guilty to involuntary manslaughter and DUI in the death of a 25-year-old nurse from Olathe.
He was paroled in 2010 and deported to Mexico because of his felony conviction. According to a news release from the U-S Attorney’s Office, Cruz was found Sept. 2, in Lawrence
If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of 10-years in federal prison and a fine up to 250-thousand dollars. Immigration and Custom Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations investigated the case.
