WICHITA – A 27-year-old Hutchinson man has been indicted by a Federal Grand Jury for having a firearm in his possession.

Jeffrey D. Williams is charged with unlawful possession of a firearm after a felony conviction. The crime is alleged to have occurred Dec. 18, 2010, here in Reno County.

Williams had been convicted in July of last year on drug charges and having no tax stamp. He is currently serving time in state prison on that conviction and is not eligible for parole until January 26 of 2014. He also served time for aggravated battery going back to 2005.

These felony convictions make it illegal for him to have a firearm in his possession. If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of 10-years in federal prison and a fine up to 250-thousand dollars.

And, a 38-year-old Newton man was charged with basically the same thing.

Transisto S. Espinoza is charged with one count of unlawful possession of a firearm after a felony conviction and one count of unlawful possession of ammunition after a felony conviction. The crimes are alleged to have occurred Aug. 1st, in Harvey County.

He also faces a maximum penalty of 10-years in federal prison and a fine up to 250-thousand dollars on each count.
