Intersection of Carpenter and Main getting refitted

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — After hearing numerous complaints from residents in the area, Hutchinson Public Works is tearing out the bulbous curbs and sidewalks from the intersection of Carpenter and Main.

The curbs were poured several months ago, but the narrow opening to the intersection going east off Main Street created problems for motorists, especially those that tow trailers.

Jeff Peterson of Public Works says the curb is being moved back to allow for full-sized lanes at the intersection. He hopes the work will be done by the end of the week.
