A Nickerson man is now wanted for failing to appear in court Thursday afternoon for a bond revocation hearing.

The marijuana distribution case against Armando Corral ended in a mistrial last week, and Deputy District Attorney Tom Stanton stated earlier this week he planned to ask that the defendant’s bond be revoked because of what he considered inappropriate contact with an employee of the District Attorney’s Office. He apparently showed up at the same church as the victim-advocate for the District Attorney’s Office and wanted to sit next to her. She said no, that her husband was parking the car and would be sitting next to her, so Corral sat in front of her. He claims that he’s a member of the church, but Stanton says that they were going to present evidence that he is not a member of the church and has never been there. Stanton says that his wife and kids had come to the church on occasion, but not him.

Add that to the fact that he also allegedly tried to get a woman to testify the way he wanted in the case, and she declined.

Judge Trish Rose set a hearing on the states motion, but he failed to show, so the judge issued a bench warrant with no bond.

The jury trial ended with a mistrial after a jury read a newspaper article about the trial, and a second juror apparently then heard about it and was influenced by it.

Corral is accused of number of charges associated with the distribution of marijuana where the state says he was using the telephone on a number of occasions to make the drug transactions. In at least one case, he’s accused of selling the pot to an undercover KBI agent. The state has also charged him with multiple counts of no drug tax stamp. The alleged crimes are said to have began on September 28, 2004 and the last one occurring on October 23, 2006.

The state says they will again seek to take the case to another jury.
