June will go down in memory as the month where very hot weather plagued most of central Kansas. But believe it or not, it wasn’t as bad as some months in the past.
According to weather.com there were just 7 days in June where the temperature exceeded 100 degrees. That was the last seven days of the month during which some areas of the state hit 115 degrees.
Of the 30-days in June, 9 other days were in the 90’s, 13days were in the 80’s, which is actually a little below normal. And even one day, the 1st of June, the high was just 61-degrees.
On the average the temperature was 92.6 degrees last month, compare with 95.6 in June of last year
Precipitation wise it was very dry again. The area saw just three days where rain fell all in a period from June 16th through the 19th. More than 3-inches of rain fell during that time but aside form that it was dry.
