K-61 to open in McPherson County

K-61 in McPherson County will be open to four lanes by the weekend. David Greiser with the Kansas Department of Transportation says the north bound lanes are finished and will open to traffic.

Because of some painting and striping issues in the southbound lanes, that traffic will be reduced to one lane for a short period of time to allow that road to be re-striped. Once that’s finished the road will be a full four lane highway. Work also continued on the interchange with highway 153 at McPherson. That work is expected to be done by the end of the month.

Work also continues on the north bound lanes of K-61 in Reno County. Work here is expected to be completed next year.

Crews are also working to tie in the south bound lanes in Reno County and may have that portion of the road open before winter.
