WICHITA, Kan. – Connor Kaegi of (22) Ottawa University, Kwame Sexton of Sterling College, and Tanner Galliart of Bethel College have earned this week’s KCAC Offensive, Defensive, and Special Teams Player of the Week honors, respectively, the conference office announced Monday. The three student-athletes were selected for their performances on Sept. 7 by a vote of conference sports information directors.

Kaegi had a career night in OU’s, 35-34, come from behind victory over Southwestern College last Saturday in Winfield, Kan. He went 33-for-47 (70.2%) through the air for a career high 432 yards and three touchdowns. Kaegi led the Braves in rushing with 33 yards and one touchdown.

Sexton was key for Sterling’s defense in their 34-21 season-opening victory over Avila. The junior defensive back led the Warriors with 16 total tackles, finishing with 11 solo and 5 assisted. Late in the game, Sexton also came up big with key stops in the 4th Quarter to keep the Eagles scoreless on their last few possessions. Sexton had 1.5 tackles for a loss of 2.5 yards and a pass break up, leading the Warrior defense to a strong start into the 2019 season. Sexton currently is No. 2 in the NAIA in Tackles (All positions) per game.

Galliart is currently ranked #1 in the NAIA after averaging 27.5 yards per punt return in Saturday’s victory. Both of his returns (24 & 31 yards) crossed back into Swede territory, breaking multiple tackles on each to do so. His second return set up the offense 25 yards out of the end zone, directly resulting in a Bethel touchdown.
