Kan. woman hospitalized after SUV goes airborne, hits barbed wire fence

RENO COUNTY  — One person was injured in an accident just before 3p.m. Friday in Reno County.

The Reno County Sheriff’s office reported a Toyota Highlander driven by Penny Lee Wood, 70, Kingman, was southbound on Kansas 14 just north of Sun City Road.

The SUV crossed the northbound lane, left the road, entered the ditch, went airborne, hit a barbed wire fence before coming to stop in a field.

Pretty Prairie EMS transported Wood to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

She was wearing a seat belt, according to the sheriff’s department.
