HOLTON (AP) – Kansas education officials will consider whether to revoke the teaching license of former northeast Kansas high school teacher for illegal sexual activity with a 15-year-old female student.
Thirty-seven-year-old Tad Hernandez was sentenced to 60 days in jail in September. He also was ordered to spend more than five years on probation.
Hernandez taught business at Holton High School until resigning last December. He was charged with criminal sodomy and aggravated indecent liberties with a child, but pleaded no contest to lesser charges of lewd and lascivious behavior and indecent solicitation of a child.
Hernandez has agreed to surrender his license. Next week, the Kansas Board of Education will consider whether to revoke his license.
